TESTIMONIALS

MEMORABLE STORYTELLING SKILLS

Mae's communication and storytelling of user research findings is clear, succinct, and compelling. I noticed this especially when she presented back the BOP agents depth interviews/generative research she presented earlier this year. The findings were communicated with warmth, due to the carefully crafted and edited participant videos. And they were also memorable, due to the humorous wit and touch she added to her presentation.

IMPACTFUL INSIGHTS AS NEW HIRE ONBOARDING

Mae is an absolute joy to work with. She tackled some of our hardest research questions and provided detailed insighs that really drive understanding of the customer and their experience. Her work was so impactful and insightful that it has made its way into overviews of the customer that every new employee at our business is required to attend during onboarding.

PASSION FOR ACCESSIBILITY

I've admired Mae's motivation and passion for inclusivity in her research practice. She was proactive in contributing to our discussions as a user research team, when we first started figuring out which audiences to include first as part of our Inclusive Research OKRs ... but has also been curious and proactive in exploring how we could start to include other audiences (e.g. those who speak English as a second/foreign language, those with learning disabilities, etc.) in the Workers' Compensation project.

CREATING A SAFE SPACE FOR INTERVIEWEES

Anyone who has been in the same room as Mae, virtual or in-person, knows she brings phenomenal energy. When it comes to UX, I saw the positive impacts her energy brought to research. She quickly build a psychological safe space for interviewees to be open and honest - which is a corner stone trait to her role. It is much easier to analyze research than build fast trust in coversations, although Mae did an outstanding job of walking us through the findings and how we can improve the journey with the customer top of mind. Some findings are already making a difference. Mae has all the traits to be a top notch user researcher!

Mae's motivation and passion for user research has been clear to see. She has been attentive to listen to, and learn from, and has been pragmatic to put this into practice immediately. She has a relaxed, warm, and friendly moderator style, which in turn helps participants to feel more comfortable. She is calm, patient, and empathetic when handling particularly challenging interview sessions.

DESIGNING FOR THE CUSTOMER

As the owner for one of the company's 4 key initiatives, I worked with Mae, who engineered and ran user testing that helped shape the product design to focus on the customer experience. We collaborated on the presentation of product features, the design for the customer journey/experience, and finding solutions for customer pain points. Mae was a pleasure to partner with, and time and again demonstrated a positive outlook during project setbacks and delays.

EARLY DAYS IN USER RESEARCH CAREER

Mae dove right into the researcher role with enthusiasm and an open mind. The former has meant that she has made very fast progress and started adding value as a researcher almost immediately, which no small feat given that she was starting from zero. The latter has meant that her practice has been improving from day one as she has been fantastic at taking feedback and incorporating it, getting more feedback, adding to her knowledge - and so on, and so on. These are two crucial qualities for a junior researcher to be starting their career with and cultivating them further will only help Mae excel even more.
